For over 2,000 years Acupuncture has successfully treated people across the globe; it is an ancient and effective approach to pain relief and natural healing. Acupuncture is one of the most popular and well-established forms of complimentary medicine in the United Kingdom. It promotes health & wellbeing, prevents illness and treats various medical conditions.

Some of the various medical conditions treated by acupuncture include:

Acupuncture regulates the flow of vital energy which circulates through a series of invisible meridians that channel through the body, in turn regulating the function of the different body organs.  Stimulation of acupuncture points release blockages in this energy flow, promote healing mechanisms and trigger the production of the ‘feel good’ endorphin chemicals in the brain leaving the patient feeling relaxed, energised and peaceful.

During treatment, needles are either briefly inserted or retained in place for 20 - 30 minutes, depending on the required effect; sometimes electro stimulation is applied to the needles enhancing acute and chronic pain relief.   During this time, there may be a slightly distending sensation and a pleasant feeling of relaxation.  Warming of the needles by burning moxa is used to promote the movement of energy in the meridians and to speed recovery of the tissues.  This further deepens the sense of relaxation and well-being.

Cupping is sometimes used to encourage the flow of blood, lymph and Qi to ease stress, aches and pains, especially back pain from stiffness or injury.  Also to clear congestion in the chest, that can occur with colds and flu.

Auricular acupuncture is applied to help with addictive habits such as alcohol and smoking. It is also a great aid for weight loss.

Acupuncture is extremely safe and effective. All the needles are of superior quality and disposed of after one use.  The side effects are negligible, small bruising can sometimes occur as well as minuscule bleeding if the acupuncture point is in proximity to a small blood vessel or if blood heat needs to be released reducing blood pressure and low or high grade fever.
